That was a really good take on the left/liberal cause and why it is destructive to us as a nation. Just wish they would see it.

Obama’s un-original wealth redistribution was once called cleverly and simply “social justice.” It is linked like a chain from Roosevelt’s New Deal, defended and then despised by Father Coughlin, a hero in Nazi Germany. Coughlin was at his peak a major demagogue, appealing to emotions and prejudices, reaching by radio an estimated third of the nation in the 1930’s. Enter Joseph P Kennedy, an alliance with Eugene Cardinal Pacelli to isolate Coughlin’s social justice doctrine (it interfered with the New Deal), winding through Rome as the Church made an agreement with the Nazis in its fear of Communism. Thus was Coughlin’s life depicted in Carnivàle as Brother Justin Crowe. Less you take offense, research the American Communist party, the USA Nazi Youth Camps, the idolatry of Mussolini and the corruption of progressivism. Fast forward to 2010, wealth redistribution, to the current administration and the New Deal Redux.
There is a giant chasm between “feel good ideologies” and “tough love romanticism.” The alcoholic wants that drink. The diabetic craves that sugar. Man is forever harnessing the seven deadly sins of wrath, avarice, sloth, lust, envy and gluttony. The fact of political corruption is no longer an issue of excommunication. It is excuses, “has always been that way,” “everybody engages in it,” and nobody rises up in a spirit of anathema and says simply “stop,” “out-out damn spot.”
And yet in a moment of passion, disillusionment, tragedy, or anger we hate Bush, Obama, discard the views of Farrakhan, Beck, Wright, Palin, Pfleger and Limbaugh, to name a few, because in our moment of disgruntlement we find it easier, less vexing, more comforting, less intellectual, and enormously more self serving than to seek out that kernel of truth or the obligation of exposing a lie that can be found, sometimes only with great effort, in almost anything.
The appeasement of Iran is dangerously parallel and similar to Neville Chamberlain’s appeasement of Hitler. Let us “talk about it” said the snake to the rodent. And there are still those who have forgotten history and feel we have time to “undo it.”
GM, Chrysler, Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae, Bear Stearns and the elusive, secretive and ultimately ominous, threatening, ill-omened Creature from Jekyll Island (The Federal Reserve) were capitalistic entities and even role models (of something)…or so some of us believed. Many were fooled about social justice, Communism, Marxism and Fascism in the 1930’s. For those who would embrace reality research California, for as California goes so goes the USA. Investigate, examine and scrutinize AIG for as AIG goes, so goes Capitalism. Or so we fear.
One finds nowhere in the Constitution, Bill of Right, The Federalist Papers or the Declaration of Independence, any suggestion that man bestowed, or had the audacity to assume the power to bestow, these rights on any of us. These inalienable rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness came from our creator; (you honorable atheists must choose your own source), straight to us.
There is one unwritten belief that we all live by and rarely referenced in our dialogue concerning governance. Many of us are embarrassed by the DNA that rises in all when we are confronted with what psychologist name the ‘Fight or Flight” syndrome. In nature it is watchful, alert, often brutal and always necessary. Darwin spent some time on this issue and if one does not go apocalyptic over evolution, therein lays some insight. “Survival of the fittest” is the unscripted, unwritten operating manual for the mission and goal of how to safeguard our “inalienable rights.”
In an age of reason this was the main intellectual raison d'être of why we left England and founded America. It is here that we hold a fragile balance in a noble struggle to preserve our inalienable right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. We hold forth that these rights are forever incapable of being repudiated or transferred to another. And without this moral anchor we are adrift. Return to principles.
