Is The Republican Party Lost?
Every article you read these days from the liberal media has a very clear message: the Republican Party is dead and should be buried. Conservatism is in shambles. The Democrats have the upper hand and the correct solution for the country. Tax and Spend is working. The Stimulus is working. Foreign powers love us. All is happy in liberal land.
I beg to differ. In fact, I believe the evidence is stronger each day that the Republican Party is making inroads into the Democratic “majority.” The election happened and Obama and the Democrats are in power. We have to live with that for another 18 months. But when one looks at the trends a new picture begins to develop.
All evidence indicates that the country is going the other way and still leans center-right. Look at what happened in Virginia yesterday. In a hotly contested Democratic primary for governor, R. Creigh Deeds, a conservative Democrat, whooped an ex-head of the DNC and staunch supporter of the Clintons. Deeds is about as far to the right as the Democratic Party gets. He is so pro-gun that he supports concealed weapons in bars and nightclubs. I’m not even sure if I go that far.
Why did Deeds get the nomination? Well, according to every article and news report, it is because the Virginia Democrats are afraid of losing the governorship in November to the Republican candidate. Robert McDonnell is a staunch Republican Conservative and the Virginia populace is definitely to the right regardless of whether the state went with Obama. A liberal Democrat is never going to win Virginia right now and probably never.
Another example can be seen by the current events in the New York Legislature. The Democrats which have had control of the New York Senate for as long as anyone can remember have physically locked the chamber to keep the new majority Republicans from enacting any legislation. How has this happened? Well, two members of the Senate switched sides tipping the scales in favor of the Republicans. The Democrats, according to Governor Patterson, a Democrat, are now acting like children and have physically taken the keys to the chamber to stop the Republicans from doing anything. In fact, they are refusing to recognize that two of their brethren have abandoned them.
Speaking of Governor Patterson maybe we should talk about his approval rating for a minute. This is the man that became governor after Eliot Spitzer resigned in disgrace about a year ago for being the typical Democratic hypocrite. He “played” with the people he took on. Governor Patterson’s approval ratings are so low that some people believe that a Republican may actually have a chance to win New York. That would be only the second Republican to hold office in New York since 1975. The last, George Pataki, took power during the Republican revolution in the mid-nineties and barely lasted two terms.
What would happen if New York gets a Republican governor in the next election cycle? With California currently having a Republican governor and a strong potential candidate in Meg Whitman, the top two states would be Republican. If you factor in Texas and Florida which are third and fourth in population, and both of which have Republican incumbents, you would have approximately 32% of the US Population controlled by Republican governors in just four states. To me that doesn’t sound like a dead party! Rather, it sounds like one that has the potential for a strong majority.
On the national front, Nancy Pelosi’s current popularity is at the lowest it’s ever been. According to a Gallup poll released on Friday, Pelosi’s ratings are currently at 34%. If I’m not mistaken, these are lower than President Bush’s at the end of his administration. In fact, the same poll showed that Ex Vice President Dick Cheney’s popularity is actually higher at 37%. Eight months ago, this was one of the most disliked men in the country. I guess that speech he gave a few weeks ago on National Security and the effects of 9/11 made a lot of the population think.
One of the most important facts about these poll numbers is where the change is actually coming from. Both Ms. Pelosi’s fall and Mr. Cheney’s rise are directly related to a change in independent electorate which went strongly Democratic last November. And, we all know that is where elections are won.
Just yesterday, the Obama spin started on the stimulus package. The President stopped talking about creating jobs and started talking about saving jobs. How will anyone prove the accuracy of his statement yesterday that 150,000 jobs were saved as a result of the stimulus package so far? Last month the economy lost more than 500,000 jobs net. That’s a loss, plain and simple. When that number turns around and there is job growth in a month, then he can start to claim credit. But, by saying that 150,000 jobs were saved last month, he is making it look like the stimulus worked when there is no proof one way or the other. It’s spin, pure and simple.
Newt Gingrich, it seems, is already running for President and his popularity is growing. At a conference in the past few days, he stated that Obama has already failed. And, he is strongly criticizing Ms. Sotomayor. Maybe, the American public is beginning to agree. For the first time, the President’s approval rating has sunk below 60%. I predict it will be teetering around 50% by the end of the year.
Jon Voight publicly stated at the same conference that he is embarrassed by the President and that the President will cause the downfall of this country. Jon Voight, who in my opinion is a great American, should probably think about running for Congress. I am still moved by his Memorial Day comments about Hollywood being in a sorry state when it cared more about Earth Day than Memorial Day.
Why is this change happening so shortly after the “Democratic Revolution?” I can answer that one, but it would take a book. To put it simply, the American people are beginning to see this Administration for what it is: A return to the failed policies of Jimmy Carter and Democrats of the seventies. Weakness in Foreign Affairs and out-of-control spending will not sit with the American electorate at either the national or state level. And, unfortunately, that is what the first five months of President Obama’s Administration has brought. And, unfortunately, that appears to be what the future will bring as well.

Finding your blog is like finding a light at the end of the dark tunnel of reckless Democratic destruction! What a relief to find a conservative enjoying a successful entertainment career - a real Hollywood insider - with the courage to come forward to openly say the Emperor is naked! I salute you, Mr. Martini, and I thank you. Most of Hollywood seems either ignorant of Obama and the Democratic Party’s systematic destruction of capitalism and our economy - or, the Hollywood political herd is afraid of not being on the Obama bandwagon. I am MAD AS HELL that the President of the United States holds his job in low regard. The elected leader of the most powerful country in the world should not be showing up as a jokester on Jay Leno, or Conan O’brien, or Stephen Colbert, or any other entertainment vehicle. We, the citizens of the United States, do not elect Presidents to be celebrities. We elect our Presidents to be leaders. President Obama is not a rock star, a television star, or a movie star. Nor is the President is a leader. He is a fraud. It is time for the Republican party to generate the leaders our country so desperately needs! Hopefully, your blog will help rally the Hollywood conservative community to openly inspire people to follow leadership.
If the Republican Party would have had a "LEADER" like you speak of...Obama would not be in office.

I agree with Madashell. Further, I believe McCain’s loss had nothing to do with leadership or the lack of it. The empirical evidence lies clearly in the election results when examined county by county - Obama was elected President by the inner city voter. In the vast majority of the “blue” states, most of the counties were “red.” The largest metropolitan areas - the inner cities of our country - went “blue.” California was an exception in one sense: The Central California coastal counties. In California, most counties were “red” and the inner-city metropolitan areas were “blue,” as was the case in most of the other states. The Central California coastal counties are not generally densely populated like the metropolitan inner cities so it was a surprise to me the central coastal counties went “blue.” Oklahoma was the other exception to the pattern. Every county in Oklahoma went “red,” including its largest metropolitan inner cities. The inner cities contain large populations of “anti-white” groups and large populations that look to the government for the majority of their subsistence. I believe most of Obama’s votes were not votes of approval of the man, or his abilities, or his polices. I believe most of the votes for Obama were votes of the inner city populations protesting the “white establishment.” Some will attack this opinion as racist dogma. Here is the proof that it not. Had the majority of voters in California in the general election been staunchly committed to electing Obama AND strengthening the liberal agenda, then the proposition banning gay marriage would have passed. The proposition banning gay marriage was overwhelmingly defeated in California even as the state went “blue.” This proves the inner city voter in California voted for Obama as a vote against a “white establishment”- not as an affirmation of liberal democratic political policy. The inner city voter in California cast a presidential ballot and voted on nothing else. I believe this theory of “anti white” voting was not only true in the general election. I believe it was true in the Democratic primaries, too. While this opinion may not be politically correct, it is nonetheless a valid one. Obama is showing us he not a leader. There is nothing to be gained waiting for another Ronald Reagan while Obama is destroying the United States. Even the worst Republican on the planet would be a better LEADER than Obama the joker.
The Democrats have only controlled the NY Senate since 2006. Until then the Republicans had always controlled it.
I was a democrat up until last year, when I could no longer deny that the party was so corrupted that I couldn't in good conscience continue to vote for it's candidates. I re-affiliated as an independent, and voted republican for the first time in my life.
Now, I agree that the dems are trying to talk the republican party down, as being in it's death throes. They are spreading it as a meme, hoping it takes root. They are attempting to intimidate republican elected officials into moderating their stances, so as to lessen their attractiveness to their base. However, far too many republican elected officials are not addressing the issues that their constituents need them to, and that is what presents a clear and present danger to the party.
Back when I was a dem, I didn't hate republicans, but I was offended by their abandoning the best interests of Americans, to woo the corporate interests, as directed by the neo-cons. Many republican leaders have woken up to the fact that the same corporate interests they thought were loyal to them, have cast them aside for corrupt democrat leaders.
Our economy is being destroyed, because it's being dismantled, outsourced and off-shored. We can not survive without a manufacturing base, without family farmers, without good paying jobs, and control over our own technical and security interests. For too long, republicans turned a blind eye to these legitimate concerns, they have to change that. Harken back to President Eisenhower's warnings, and fight for our nation's economic survival.
Barack Obama just fast tracked increased outsourcing of jobs, including infrastructure and security to India. The same day as he claimed, once again, to wish to end the practice, he and his administration (including his tech czar, a man with a felony arrest record, and whose former company is under federal investigation) betrayed those claims. It was appalling that I didn't see or read statements from any republican leaders taking him to task on this, doing anything to shame him into reversing that.
Obama and the dems are trying to get away with whatever they can. What stops them is when they are embarrassed by light being shined on their hypocrisies. In the UK, in the Telegraph newspaper, it was reported yesterday that 2 Japanese nationals were found with 134 billion in US bonds in a briefcase. The report inferred that they were counterfeit bonds, but how are we to know, and our media refuses to report it. Obama borrows nearly 800 billion from the Chinese, spends very little of it, as far as we know, and refuses to provide a full accounting as to what is being done, or not done, despite his claim that we have no more money. The UK media reports that our economy will collapse in August, yet we're told that the economy is improving.. I am more inclined to trust the foreign press at this point. Frankly, we need republican leaders blasting the Obama administration, full throttle. We need demands for an independent prosecutor and an investigation. Show the American people that the party is fighting for them once again. The people wouldn't need much encouragement to support them, believe me.
Consider what has happened in the UK these past few weeks when the Labour party was caught with it's pants down. They lost a huge part of their control in the UK. Of course the heads of the government are still trying to act as though it didn't happen, and too many Tories in government haven't cottoned on to the fact that they have an opportunity to force a new election for the control of parliament.. but they could. It's what needs to be done by republicans here. One other matter, sorry, but Newt Gingrich is a neo-con, he has no loyalty to this country, he is only out for himself. I'm not knocking anyone for supporting him, I just wish that you'd cast a wider net and unite around a good and decent republican who loves this country and wishes to save it.
